Is this generation NoMoPhobic?

Nomophobia is a proposed name for the phobia of being out of cellular phone contact. The anxiety and distress caused, when you are out of contact of your mobile phone or if the battery in the phone is running out, would be the perfect defination of this phobia.

These Omnipotent devices are not just the window to the world, the primary means of interaction with the rest of the world, but these devices move to the next level and creates dependency for information and entertainment so much that one study says :’when it comes to the acquisition and retention of information, our brains treat our devices like relationship partners’. It shouldn’t be a surprise that such a phobia exists.

This generation lacks the motivation to retain their knowledge or learn things by themselves, since they have their Omniscient gadgets in their pockets. Why remember or learn anything at all when you have everything at your fingertips. Is this dumbing down our generation or is it pushing towards greatness and letting us focus on learning only on the skills that really matter for success within a specific environment.Expressing true emotions like love, heartbreaks, anger, and the meanness are far more convenient to communicate online, rather than face to face, since you do not have to empathize or take responsibility of your actions.Getting nomophobic in such cases is understandable, since they are not trained to stand alone and face real issues without depending or hiding behind their gadgets.

Yes, this generation is NoMoPhobic and so is the generation who remembered the phone numbers of friends and family, who knew their multiplication tables by heart and knew how to deal with emotions and loneliness, is now picking up their gadgets the first thing as they wake up,at every traffic signal, every time there is a flash on their phone to be distracted for hours and hours.
